Men Are Not Idiots

My wife made an interesting observation a few years ago, as we were watching a humorous commercial on TV. She said, "It is a shame how they make men out to be fools in these commercials."
She was right!
All too often in the name of humor men, especially husbands and fathers, are made out to be bumbling fools, while the wives look on with a knowing and condescending expression on their faces, kind of, "well that is just the way they are."
This is terribly demeaning to men and encourages their children to think "My dad is dumb! Funny, but dumb!"
This is not good for the family and not good for America. Others have noticed this disturbing trend as well.
Yes, I see that the purpose was merely to create a humorous situation and entertain, all the while hoping the consumer remembers the brand, and around the water fountain the next day talks about how funny the commercial was, and hopefully, the brand gets mentioned.
I have come to view those brands who demean people, even men, as unworthy of my money. How about you?
