Coors Sued Over iPhone App

Posted on October 15, 2008 | Permalink

The Coors Brewing Company is being sued $12.5 million over an iPhone application they were giving away free as a promotion. You can get the details here. The Coors application turns your iPhone into a virtual beer, which you can "drink". The charge is that it infringes on a $2.99 Hottrix iBeer application that does the same thing.

Hottrix claims their sales suffered as a result of the Coors infringement. Their version includes a game where you navigate a pint down a bar without hitting any obstacles. If you are successful you get a virtual beer to drink. You can see how it works below.

I wonder what your blood/alcohol count would be after a few of these. "But officer, I only had 50 beers!"
