Sazerac Rye Package DesignThe Sazerac Company of New Orleans dates back to 1850 and the world’s very first "cocktail," the famous Sazerac. The word "cocktail" comes from anglicizing the French word for the double-ended egg cup the original Sazerac was served in, called a coquetier. SPAR was commissioned to design the decoration on a period-looking bottle the Sazerac Company had developed for their new rye brand. We chose to use fired-on ACL (Applied Color Labeling) in the style of antique bottles found in the Getz Bourbon Museum in Bardstown, Kentucky to give the brand a very mid-1800’s period look. The resulting Sazerac Rye package has an authentic look and feel to it. Bronze Award Winner - 2010 Los Angeles International Wine and Spirits Competition |
